Wii vs. PlayStation 3 Guitar Hero IIIGuitar Hero III is already a huge success, having sold over $100 million of product on Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, and PS2 during its first week of release. Sales probably won’t be too shabby when it releases on PC and Mac next either, either.

According to Jesse Divnich, analyst for The simExchange, the Nintendo Wii version is predicted to outsell the PlayStation 3 version by a two-to-one margin when all is said and done.

“The prediction market’s expectations imply that Wii consumers prefer originality over conformity, innovation over similarity, and more importantly, titles that are just simply fun to play,” he recently opined.

“Other contributing factors to the success of Guitar Hero III on the Wii include the lack of a competing version of Rock Band, which is not available for the Wii platform.”

In terms of hard numbers, Guitar Hero III is forecasted to take 33.63% of the market, while PlayStation 3 is predicted to capture only 17.13% of sales. However, according to Divnich, both will be overshadowed by Xbox 360, which he sees as taking 49.25% of the pie.
